David is originally from Dublin but is now lucky enough to live in wonderful Sligo, and takes great pleasure in sharing the beauty of the landscape, as well as the culture of the area. He is a Fáilte Ireland approved guide and a member of ATGI, and has a broad knowledge of the cultural history of the area, from Sligo’s incredible neolithic heritage, to its mythological significance, to its legacy in Irish music, literature, and art.

David’s passion is music, and always has a tin whistle at the ready on tours to provide a tune as needed. His main instrument is the Gaelic Harp – the original harp of Ireland (also known as the ‘wire-strung harp’) that dates back over one thousand years.

His repertoire includes music from the Bunting, Petrie & Stralough collections, and from folk memory. He plays a selection of this ancient music of Ireland in a private recital for our groups.
