I’m a passionate and energetic historian and tour guide who was born and bred in Sligo. I studied Archaeology and Classical Studies at the National University of Ireland, Galway, where I developed a strong interest in the broad spheres of early Greek and Roman history, society, mythology and architecture.
In the last few years, I have devoted a great deal of time to local and national Irish folklore and history. I’ve spent a number of years of experience in public and private tour guiding in Sligo town for multiple organisations such as Andante Tours and Hidden History Tours. I am the founder of the successful Sligo Heritage and History Club (over 20k members), which aims to recover and revive local and national history through storytelling, discussions, image recovery, online blogs and monthly events.
When people visit me in Ireland, I love to show them places that are off the beaten track and have them meet my friends and family. I always loved the W.B. Yeats poem. “The Stolen Child.” In this beautiful poem, the fairies take people to beautiful places to help forget about the sadness in their lives. “Come away o’ human child, to the waters and the wild, with a faerie hand in hand….”.
Our local guides are like the faeries, taking our visitors to magical and mystical places. When you join us for a tour in Ireland, we want you to feel as if you are friends and family, coming back home to Ireland. Even if you have only been here in your dreams.”
Come away…. To the waters and the wild..
